Hey Fit Fam! My name is Heidi and I hope to see you in one of my classes soon. I moved to Oregon from San Jose, CA when I was in middle school (I know – another Californian…) and have lived here ever since. I’m a functional nutritionist as well as a massage therapist, and I love motivating and leading people to live a healthy lifestyle and see them overcome obstacles that once held them back from living their authentic selves. Feel free to ask me any questions about nutrition or bodywork when you see me!
I started my CrossFit journey right here at CrossFit Woodstock back in 2013. Before that, I had dabbled in a lot of different sports and activities, but nothing really stuck until I found this sport! I have a background in gymnastics and running, and have learned so much from some amazing coaches about everything else along the way, allowing me to become a well-rounded athlete.
What are your favorite hobbies outside of the gym?
I really enjoy getting outside in the beautiful PNW with Shaka, my Mini Aussie – whether that be hiking in the mountains, visiting the coast, or hanging out at the dog park. I love to cook (and eat!), travel when I can, and I often have a list of local music shows that I’m stoked about at any given time.
What keeps you motivated to keep doing Crossfit?
The community that CrossFit fosters is the main reason I’ve stuck with it so long. It’s such a special thing to be a part of something bigger than yourself, and I love that feeling at the end of a really hard workout when you and your friends, who just nearly died, give each other a sweaty fist bump.
What is your spirit animal and why?
My spirit animal in an Owl, because I have a deep desire to obtain wisdom and knowledge, I rely largely on intuition, and I’m often quiet and observant until I have something important to say. Plus, owls are badass stealthy creatures!
